We all know that there’s a ton of snowboarding talent in the UK that never gets coverage in the magazines and movies – but now The Snowboard Asylum, in association with Standing Sideways and Lockdown Projects intend to do something about it.
You’ve all no doubt seen this year’s TSA movie ‘Showoffs’, which is available for free by simply going into a TSA store and asking for a copy. For the 2008 season, TSA intend to double your enjoyment of their movie – as well as the usual winter movie, produced by Lockdown Projects, there will be a ‘summer’ movie – a dryslope and indoor slope extravaganza – made by Damo Doyle of Standing Sideways fame.
This is where you come in. With more than a hundred UK dryslopes and the scenes that accompany them, there are riders out there that are ripping – you know it, you probably know them – and now it’s time to share them with the UK snowboarding population!
STANDINGsideways is Damian Doyle, a hugely passionate snowboarder and
general geek who likes to make things and know how things are made.
Involved in every area of snowboarding STANDINGsideways is responsible
for filming, editing, directing, park shaping, rail building, events and
the actual act of snowboarding.
STANDINGsideways films began after releasing the UK's "first best
artificial snowboard film" in 2004 and has been part of every major UK
release since, including Hungerpain (2005) and The Playground (2006).
Now working with TSA and the tour crew, we're meeting some of the
strongest scenes at the UK's slopes and exposing the rippers we meet
along the way to make the next best film - a dryslope and indoor slope
extravaganza to showcase UK snowboarding to the world and make us proud
of the places we ride.
Between now and September, The Snowboard Asylum, Lockdown Projects and Standing Sideways will be on the road, travelling the length and breadth of the UK in an effort to get the best footage and photos of unknown UK riders for the new movie. We’re not sure how long the movie is going to be – that’s up to you and totally dependent on how much footage we get in.
The new –as yet untitled – movie will be pressed and included in a twin pack with the new winter movie and there’ll be more than 35,000 produced!
So, if you’re a part of one of the UK’s killer dryslope scenes, get in touch – the crew want to visit your slope and show the rest of the UK exactly how good you are! Contact Jeremy@snowboard-asylum.com and we’ll get this thing started!
GET INVOLVED! This is going to be the biggest ever UK snowboard project and we want to see the whole of the UK’s snowboard population involved!
