If you plan to travel in remote, developing countries or climb mountainous ridges and summits in the UK and beyond, you need to carry with you the means to deal with medical emergencies. In the mountains, a regular first aid kit, together with the means to deal with exposure and to indicate your position to search parties should always be carried. In third world countries where the risks of HIV, Aids and Hepatitis are greatest, in addition to the regular first aid and dental emergency kit, one should also carry a Sterile Set of needles should you need injections or IV treatment.
