The only guaranteed way to prevent Malaria is to avoid getting bitten in the first place. Scientific research has shown that some of the most effective repellents are those that contain DEET (diethytoluamide) and that the more concentrated it is, the greater the effectiveness in keeping midges and mosquitoes at bay. Available in a variety of strength concentrations with your choice dependant upon the severity of conditions found at your destination - the higher the strength the greater the protection. Other variations include a Natural (non-Deet) repellent for sensitive skin, an Anti-Midge repellent with added Bog Myrtle - ideal for Scottish use, a repellent suitable for use on fabrics - either clothing or tent doorways, and a Bite relief clicker which helps reduce irritation/inflammation.
