When Norwegian engineer and inventor Jorgen Karlson took the idea of his unique Triple Base Technology (TBT) to some of the biggest snowboard companies they laughed at him and said it didn’t work, they sent him packing without the blink of an eye. Well, unknown to them Jorgen Karlson wasn’t just some random guy with an crazy idea, in fact Jorgen Karlson is one of the great creative minds of this century. His unique ability to approach situations and come up with solutions to problems that people didn’t even know existed has seen him develop business interests in both horticulture and pharmaceuticals as well as developing a theory that looks set to redefine the way science looks at physics. TBT is based around the idea that when a snowboard is turning the torsional twist in the nose and tail are fighting against the board making it inefficient through the turn. Karlson’s idea was to counteract the torsional twist by angling the base of the board by a small amount either side at the tip and tail. This meant that now the whole edge was working as one giving better edge hold and an easier and more relaxing ride. With a business infrastructure behind him Karlson set about proving the rest of the industry wrong. He created a small range of boards and fed them out to some of the top Norwegian riders.

Unanimously the feedback was that these boards were some of the best snowboards they had ever ridden, from this amazing feedback Bataleon Snowboards was created. Seven years on and Bataleon is now the fastest growing snowboard brand in the world. The industry has had to own up to the fact that they were wrong and TBT is the best solution to the demands of snowboarding, rocker and hybrid rocker are here to stay but only TBT delivers the characteristic of rocker with all the benefits of camber.
