  • Chris Cartwright - Store Manager

    Snowboarding Expert

    Store: CASTLEFORD-LEEDS

Chris has been snowboarding since 1994, and cut his teeth on the Sheffield Village dry slope. His first trip to real snow was with mates to Aviemore, and since then he has ridden many resorts in Europe and has completed seasons in Whistler and Mt. Baker in the USA. Chris likes riding fast, hiking to find lines out of bounds, riding in the trees and Euro carves.

    Favourite Place/Resort:

Mt Baker, USA. “Welcome to the wilderness. No lift queues, no mobile phone reception, relaxed vibe and friendly people. Check out the chilli in a bread bowl for dinner.”

  • Johnny Russell

    Snowboarding Expert

    Store: CASTLEFORD-LEEDS

Johnny is another of our pro riders, so as well as being sponsored by The Snowboard Asylum, he gets free kit from Lobster, Thirty Two and Union. He started boarding over eighteen years ago, and at the age of 16 went to his first local competition. His snowboarding career built from there, and last year he managed to get to ten different resorts and two end of season competitions

During his time as a snowboarder Johnny has completed five full seasons in resort, and he’s been on the last 5 TSA board tests. Needless to say he knows a lot about snowboarding so if you want some expert advice, drop in to the Castleford shop and talk to Johnny.

    Favourite Place/Resort:

Big White in Canada. “This is a really fun place to ride. There’s lots of different types of terrain, and lots of trees. The people are really friendly too.”
