SUK BOARD TEST 2004
Mark 'BALDY' OldhamName: Mark [Baldy from Tamworth]

Age: 28

Height: 6' 2"

Weight: 85kg

Number of years riding: 6 [yeah right, but about one run a year ;-]

Snowboarding level: Intermediate / Advanced Category!

Favourite board of the week: Not one but 3!  Burton Custom X 160, the Capita Yeti 161 and the Rome Solution 159.
The Custom was lovely, super light with a nice deep sidecut. Nice directional flex for acceleration out of the carve and float in powder with enough about it to hold an edge till the cows come home and a nose to spread ya butter with!
The Yeti was proper sick I tell thee!  The best graphics ever and a nice fat nose and tail. Super stable super cool and performed well over the whole mountain.  If there was one board that I would take away for a season it would be this one.
The Rome was also amazing.  I can’t believe that you can get boards of this quality for under £300. If you want a progressive intermediate board that will handle everything you throw at it then look to a solution! (sic).

Overall: I love playing with new kit and I think the 04-05 range of boards is one of the best I’ve seen, the Burton selection is awesome - as is Rome.  Capita have once again made the best looking boards on the planet.  Sims don’t have a bad board in their brochure and Volkl are steaming ahead with super technical boards.  The women's ranges look good. All in all everything I’ve seen and tested has been fantastic and that’s across the price range…..!
