Combining Burton’s advanced Speed Zone Lacing system with the Step-On specific Snugger Strap, the Ion Step-On gives the rider total Zonal Control of the lacing with the additional heel hold from the built-in strap. Internally the Ion features Burton’s high-performance Life Liner with DRYRIDE. This feature-packed liner works in total harmony with the advanced upper and low profile StepOn specific EST Outsole to deliver a stunning boot for riders who want to take their snowboarding to the limit.
Speed Zone® and Boa® Lacing System with New England Rope Closure
The low-profile Speed-Zone™ lacing system features lace pulls located either side of the upper. These Dual-Zone pulls allow you to independently tighten both the lower and upper parts of the boot. One side controls the lower half of the lacing while the other side controls the upper half of the lacing. By being able to control these Zones independently, you can create the ideal fit and flex to match the terrain or conditions that you are riding in.
To ensure the Ion StepOn delivers the ultimate in control and response, it features the StepOn specific Snugger Ankle Strap. This built-in Boa Coiler strap allows the rider to adjust both heel hold and forward flex stiffness.
New England Ropes are one of the foremost sailing rope manufacturers. Their unrivalled experience in creating ropes to withstand the harshest environments made them the ideal partner for Burton’s exclusive rope Boa closure. Rope laces are more robust than traditional laces and run smoother through the Boa mechanism.
Life Liner with DRYRIDE™ Heat Cycle Lining, Ultron Performance Foam® Hook and Loop Closure with Tuff Cuff
The Life Liner fuses lightweight materials with a more relaxed feel for high-end performance that makes all the difference during long seasons filled with hard-charging days. The responsive PU tongue construction provides a combo of cat-like quickness and long-term resistance to breakdown, while also accommodating a better fit for all foot shapes. The Ultralon Foam combines outstanding thermo-forming properties with exceptional resistance to packing out. This combination lets you create the perfect custom fit confident in the knowledge that the boot will retain that fit no matter how much it’s used.
The breathable DRYRIDE inner-lining technology utilises interwoven thermally activated carbon thread to capture, radiate, and reflect body heat inward to keep feet warmer while also wicking heat-robbing moisture outward.
Ankle support and inner cuff stability are mandatory in such a high-end boot. Burton’s solution is the Tuff Cuff, which increases heel hold and wraps the ankle with medial and lateral support while still flexing freely from toe to heel.
The Hook and Loop closure allows you to obtain a super snug fit on the upper part of the boot. Working similar to a power strap it lets you transmit power effortlessly.
StepOn® EST®Outsole with Recycled Rubber and Sleeping Bag Reflective Foil,

By re-engineering the sole, Burton’s designers have bought the foot closer to the board, creating a more direct connection. This innovative heat-reflective foil reflects heat to the feet, improving both warmth and comfort in even the coldest conditions.

This dual-density tongue construction is designed to enhance rebound when flexing into the boot. This helps create a livelier and more responsive boot whilst also reducing material breakdown and the boot becoming too soft.

StepOn® Backstay
