9 Of The Best UK Paddle Board Locations
The UK has some incredible paddle board spots to discover. Whether winding your way down a twisting river, exploring islands on a lake or tackling the open ocean, there is something for everyone.
We’ve put together nine of our favourite spots to explore across England, Wales and Scotland.
Abersoch - North Wales

There’s a reason that O’Shea are based in the Welsh village, it’s a spectacular destination for paddle boarding. Thanks to it’s location on the Llyn Peninsula, you have access to south, east and north facing beaches, so whatever the conditions, you should be able to find a nice sheltered spot. If you fancy testing yourself in some waves, then nearby Hell’s Mouth is one of Wales’ top surf spots.
St Agnes - Cornwall

St Agnes and its surrounding coastline is undeniably beautiful and often considered to be the very essence of rural Cornwall. With plenty of stunning beaches, caves and wildlife to explore, the picturesque village is an excellent spot for paddle boarding.
Newborough - Anglesey

Newborough is one of the beauty spots of Anglesey. Walking through the forest to get to the Llanddwyn beach is second to none. The wind usually blows onshore, but make sure to check the conditions before you head for a paddle, it's one to avoid if the wind is blowing offshore (north eastery/easterly).
St Michael's Mount - Cornwall

Mount's Bay is one of our favourite spots for paddle boarding in Cornwall. You can usually expect nice and smooth water, with the historic castle on St Michael's Mount making a great out and back route from the beach in Marazion.
Mawddach Estuary - Mid-Wales

The Mawddach estuary between Barmouth and Dolgellau is a great location for a relaxing paddle. The wide estuary is surrounded by the forests and hills of Snowdonia, making it a stunning location to be on the water, and with some top pubs at either end, it is a great place for a cruisey day out on the SUP.
Ullswater - Lake District

Paddling from one end to the other is often viewed as one of the iconic SUP tours of the Lake District, and at 13km long, there is plenty to explore at Ullswater. On windy days small easily rideable waves pick up, and travelling downwind can quickly see you travelling at speed.
Whitesands Bay - South Wales

One of the the best surf spots in South Wales, fortunately, through the summer Whitesands Bay is usually quite flat. It's crystal clear blue water and beautiful coastline is littered with secluded beaches, caves and wildlife, making it one of our picks for paddle boarding in South Wales.
Kingston upon Thames - London

The Thames is one of the UK’s most iconic rivers, and there’s no better spot to explore it than at Kingston upon Thames. The London suburb is packed full of cultural landmarks and beautiful nature. Paddling from Kingston to Richmond is a great out-and-back option, with plenty of riverside restaurants to refuel at on your return to Kingston.
Loch Lomond - Scotland

With 153km of shoreline, Loch Lomond has something for all paddle boarders. Scattered with islands, you can spend hours exploring the water. Also, thanks to its size it makes for a great practice area for those wanting to get used to open water paddling.
