Globe: ReGrowth - Sustainable Skateboarding

It's probably no surprise that one of the world's leading premium skateboard brands requires a substantial amount of wood to produce their top quality products. Globe prides themselves on pushing the boundaries of skateboard design, and sustainability also plays a large part in that. Find out more about Globe's pledge to plant more trees than they consume below.

Did you know that we also stock skateboards here at TSA? Similarly to our snowboard range, we love supporting skateboard brands that want to reduce their impact on the planet, so let us introduce you to Globe's ReGrowth initiative.

In a nutshell, the goal of ReGrowth is to offset the timber that goes into Globe's skateboard construction. To achieve this, the company engages in forestry efforts that replace far more than they actually consume.

To put this goal into effect, Globe partnered with the National Forest Foundation (NFF), a United States non-profit organisation aiming to plant 50 million trees across the US National Forests between 2018 and 2023. Globe's yearly donations to the NFF's ambitious project help plant more than three times the amount of trees the company harvests annually, ensuring that their timber use is not only offset but they're also giving back to the planet.

Globe's sustainability commitments don't end there. They have started sourcing more sustainable materials to utilise in their skateboard construction, including bamboo and upcycled coconut husks.

The ReGrowth programme covers Globe's entire skateboard range, meaning that each complete, cruiser, and longboard plays a part in supporting the NFF's tree-planting mission.
