Thank U Snowboarding Podcast - S1 EP17 - Dan Wheeler
If you’re reading this, there’s a pretty good chance you love snowboarding. We do too, so much so that we decided to make a podcast waxing poetic about it. Thank U Snowboarding is a celebration of the UK snowboard scene, a deep dive into its journey from ‘Ban This Killer Craze’ to the mainstream and a nostalgia-fuelled look back at the glory years. Each week we’ll sit down with an influential figure, exploring the past, present and future of the sport and remind ourselves why we leapt headfirst down the snowboarding rabbit hole in the first place.
For the final episode of Season 1, host Chris Cracknell sat down with UK legend Dan Wheeler. Danny, for a long time, was far and away the most powerful stylish and progressive rider the UK had produced. He made his presence felt, not just in the British scene, but internationally, with a heavy bag of tricks and a keen eye for what those tricks looked like. From humble beginnings in Pontefract to a life travelling and snowboarding, filming with an A list of snowboarders, living in the Alps, countless photos and video parts, to designing outerwear and making films, his career took him far and wide, with progression always on his mind.
