Volcom Eco True: Repreve Fabrics
Volcom has had a long-standing commitment to the environment, turning sustainability commitments into actions, always assessing their impact and improving their sources.
Back in 2012, they included Repreve’s recycled plastic bottle fibre in their t-shirts. Since then the volume of the Volcom collection that includes Repreve fabrics has grown, as part of their Eco True effort, to include trunks, board shorts, shorts and pants to create a whole range of sustainable skate style clothing. Each season they continue to find opportunities to introduce it to other products to replace less sustainable fabrics without negatively affecting the performance, comfort or quality of craftsmanship.
Repreve products are made from at least 95% post-industrial and post-consumer waste. To this date, they have made use of over 25 billion plastic bottles that would otherwise have gone to waste in landfill or the ocean affecting the environment and wildlife. Over 30million of these bottles have been utilised to make Volcom lines.

As well as reusing these otherwise useless plastic bottles, mechanically recycled polyester results in:
- Approximately 62% less energy used
- Roughly 99% less water used
- Up to 35% less waste created
- More than 20% less CO2 emitted into the atmosphere
… per 1kg of woven polyester fabric, when compared to the manufacturing of virgin polyester.
