    Bataleon Whatever 2016 / 2017 Snowboard

Sharing much of its DNA with the acclaimed Goliath, the all-terrain Whatever blends the playful nature of the very best freestyle boards with the go-anywhere versatility of a freeride board.

Aimed squarely at anyone who is looking for an easy-going, all terrain ride, this versatile wonder opens up the whole mountain. With a slightly softer flex and an almost twin shape, the Whatever ticks all the boxes for the freestyle rider. However, by adding an extra bit of volume in the nose it liberates itself from the park and delivers great performance wherever you take it.

Although the Whatever is easy to ride; thanks to its full-length dynamic camber it doesn't compromise pop or power ensuring that it still delivers great performance when cruising the piste or generally blasting around the mountain.

As with the Goliath, the Whatever utilises Bataleon's freestyle 3BT profile. This splits the side base upturns and flat centre sections at the tip and tail into 3 equal parts. This creates a versatile profile that gives improved edge hold and bite, increased float in deep snow and a more playful hook freeride, in other words the perfect characteristics for riding every type of terrain.

Internally the Whatever uses the same advanced Reactor wood core as used in the Goliath. This poppy and responsive poplar core adds beech stringers along the edges, not only beefing up the sidewalls but also delivering extra power through the turn. In addition, Bataleon also place carbon/kevlar inserts between the bindings adding an extra layer of pop without compromising the playful and buttery feel. Now to give the Whatever its trademark playful ride, the structural layers are formed from a torsionally softer Bi-Ax glass.

Finally the Super Slick X base material is one of the highest molecular weight none-sintered base's available giving you a superfast glide and increased durability but with the low maintenance and easy repair characteristics that you only get with extruded bases.

For 2017 the Whatever is available as board only or packaged with the matching Switchback Forever binding.

    Great Board, POW or Park

    Geoff 06/02/2017

Whatever 158 - 5ft 11, 75kg, Size 9 Boot. Intermediate Rider Board was a great fit and perfect for bombing the mountain. Carves really we'll, but the TBT can feel a little bit vague when low speed flat based. The board preferred to be on one edge or the other but am certain TBT saved me from catching edges. Thus it was a joy to ride and only on desperately icy black runs did the edge hold feel nervous. I was amazed how much I could push. Loved this board hitting jumps in the park and was fine for simple jibs/boxes. I personally found the board too big/stiff for butters and the spoon shape of TBT made it tricky to balance. For a dedicated park board fun kink is probably better but I love the graphics and as a playful all mountain board that could ride pow or park I couldn't fault it.
