Black Diamond Cyborg - fantastic for those wanting to expand their grade range
I previously owned the BD sabretooth pro, but found the flat front points were good low grades, but started to struggle at IV, particularly on water ice.
Very pleased with the upgrade to these.
1. The more technical front points perform well when pushing the grade past III. The position of the bail can be adjusted to allow you to choose the size of the front points. The larger secondary points mean you do not sacrifice much performance in softer snow at shallower gradients.
2. Flexibility - the choice between mono or dual (albeit a bit of a faff to change) is great for those expanding their grade range, and figuring out what they like best.
3. General - they share the strengths of the sabretooth - stainless steel, so hold the sharpness well and resist corrosion, good anti balling plates, ergonomic and faff free step in system.
Great bit of kit, and if you're looking for one crampon with the greatest remit, this has to be one of the most comprehensive and flexible out there.
