Supremely comfy, plush, simple goggles in a great colour way with lenses that provide clear vision across a wide range of conditions, from full on sun to white-outs. I tend to use sunglasses when it’s sunny. In fact I tend to use sunglasses in all the conditions I can, but when the weather’s rough, or when there’s little visibility, I reach for goggles. These are great and interface well with my seldom used helmet, a Giro Ledge. But, and this is quite a big but, in certain conditions they do tend to collect water beading on the lenses more than other goggles. For instance I was skiing recently in Chamonix right in the zone where falling snow was just turning to rain. It was cloudy/foggy and the falling snow was pretty wet. My goggles collected water, enough to quite considerably impair visibility. I noticed that while my companions were doing fine with their goggles which remained pretty clear, these collected water droplets to such an extent that I’d have to wipe them often. Which is advised to do as little as possible as the lens surfaces are fragile. Oakley make a hydrophobic lens cleaner, but I am still awaiting to find out if it is compatible with these goggles as on the one hand it says it’s good for all Iridium lenses but on the other says it’s not suitable for snow goggles…so be warned that in some conditions they may not be ideal. However in every other condition in which I have used them, they’ve been fab. In general, a big thumbs up from me.
