Sharing the same freestyle focussed all-terrain shape as Benchwarmer, the Zero is the perfect board for riders who want to transition between the street, the park and the piste. Built around a state-of-the-art asymmetrical twin shape, the Zero is designed to maximise its performance across multiple riding styles. The lightweight flat kick nose and tail are a little longer than you'd typically expect in this board style; however, Ride's engineers have developed a unique shape that allows that extra length without adding weight at the tips. This innovative shape means you've got a board that can blast through chop but still have a low swing weight to maximise control and feel in the park. Continuing with the Zero's ride anything theme, Ride give it an asymmetrical quadratic sidecut. This innovative sidecut places a deeper quadratic sidecut on the heelside edge to offset the biomechanical inefficiency of driving energy into the heelside edge. This dynamic edge profile means that not only do you have a freestyle board that can ride anywhere, but you've also got a freestyle board that rips on the piste as well.

Rider Style: All-Terrain Freestyle riders

The Zero is aimed at freestyle riders who are looking for a versatile board that can deliver no matter the conditions or terrain.

Shape Overview: Assymettric Twin Tip

The Zero's innovative shape turns freestyle norms on their heads to create a playful park-orientated board that kills it away from the park and the streets. Its advanced twin tip shape features a more extended tip and tail than you'd usually find on this type of board. However, by removing excess material from the tips, Ride's engineers have managed to dial in all the advantages of extra length, such as the ability to blast through chop and pow, without any of the downsides, ie increased swing weight. This means that the Zero behaves like a traditional blunt nose twin, but it's just a lot more versatile. That innovative nose shape also features flat kicks to make buttering and pressing easier and more stable. To step up the performance of the Zero on the piste, it utilises an asymmetrical quadratic sidecut. Blending longer radii at the tip and tail with a deeper radius through the middle, the Zero has an easy and mellow turn entry and exit, but still feels locked in and solid through the middle of the turning arc. Now to help offset the body's inability to power up the heelside as much as the toeside, the quadratic sidecut on the heelside edge is a little bit deeper. This balances the sidecut out as you don't have to drive that deeper edge as hard to get the drive from it.

Profile: Twin Standard Camber

The Zero's Asymmetrical Twin Standard Camber profile combines rocker in the nose and tail with camber under the feet. The rocker at the contact points delivers a more reassuring hook-free feel when playing in the park as well as creating lift and float in deeper snow. To give the board a more dynamic and responsive ride, the Zero adds camber under the feet to power up the sidecut. This ensures that when you need edge hold and stability, the Zero won't let you down.

Construction

Internally the Zero has been optimised to deliver the perfect balance of freestyle feel with a ride anything twist. Heading this up is the responsive Performance core. Constructed from high-strength Aspen, poppy Bamboo and lightweight Paulownia, it perfectly balances strength, power and weight. To this Ride then add underfoot dampening pads in the binding zones. These help cushion landings and add additional resistance to core compression under excess load. Now to give the Zero that optimum all-terrain/freestyle flex, the structural layers are formed from a combination of playful bi-ax glass on both the upper band and lower band. To give the board a bit more of a dynamic feel for when you want to get out around the mountain, it utilises Ride's Carbon Array 3. By placing 3 carbon strips running from the contact points through the binding zones at both the tip and tail, Ride powers up the contact points, creating a faster and more responsive tip and tail engagement without compromising the torsional twist through the centre of the board. The Slim-wall tech gives a more direct power transfer over a regular board. Finally, the Cleave steel edges have nearly 50% more steel; this delivers unmatched resistance to edge cracking while allowing the rider to blunt off the edge far more than with a traditional edge.

Base

The high-performance stone ground Sintered Base gives a faster glide across a wide range of temperatures and conditions.
