Shape Overview

The Storm is built around an all new tapered directional shape. This delivers a solid and stable ride with enhanced float in the powder, easy turn initiation and exit as well as a predictable overall feel. Performance in the powder is even further enhanced with the longer freeride specific nose and tail profiles which add lift at the front of the board and sink at the tail. However, for what is a fully directional freeride board, the Storm still feels pretty balanced to ride thanks to the minimal (1cm) amount of setback. This gives it that more progressive feel for when you just want to cruise around without compromising any of the Storms hard charging ride.

Profile

As with the rest of the Bataleon range it’s the unique Freeride 3BT shape with SideKicks technology that really sets the Storm apart from its competitors. This directional shape has a narrow centre base with more side base uplift area and angle in the nose than in the tail. That narrow centre base generates swift edge-to-edge transfer and works in perfect harmony with the traditional camber to ensure that not only do you you have a board that turns easier and with more stability. In addition, that more pronounced side base gives unrivalled levels of lift and float at the nose. So not only do you have a board that turns like it’s on rails, but you also have a board that will ride everything you can throw at it.

Side Kicks

SideKick increases the side base uplift just outside the widest part of the nose and tail, making turn initiation smoother, increasing float in powder and improves handling of the board in rough terrain.

Construction

Internally the Storm takes advantage of Bataleon’s high end construction. Heading this up is the new Light Core, combining an even mix of poplar and paulownia it delivers the perfect balance of light weight, durability and playful performance. To this, Bataleon then add their state of the art D.S.T (Dual Super Tube) Technology. This places two hollow carbon rods into milled out channels on the base of the core, stepping up pop as well as powering up the camber for more snap and drive. Now to give the Storm its powerful and responsive ride, the structural layers are formed from torsionally responsive tri-ax glass. This creates a stable and solid ride that inspires total confidence at even the highest speeds. Now to step up response and power even further, Bataleon add carbon stringers running from the inserts to the contact points in the nose and from the inserts to the middle of the tail. This combination gives lightning fast turn initiation with a powerful and dynamic drive out the back of the board.

Base

To ensure that the Storm delivers great performance in any conditions Bataleon utilise their Hyper Glide S base. This durable sintered base material is super-fast and super tough.

Shape Overview

The Blackjacks advanced all-terrain twin tip shape delivers a fully balanced feel, ensuring that no matter if your hitting rails in the park, popping off kickers or even just carving groomers, it’s going to give you all the control you could ever need. That control is further enhanced by the addition of the innovative FiveGnar sidecut. Designed especially for flat camber boards, it works by dividing the sidecut into five distinct sections. The zones under the front and back feet feature a large radius sidecut, while the zones in the nose, tail and middle of the board are all the same tighter radius sidecut. Those tighter zones engage the edges more aggressively ensuring the board feels tight through the middle of a turn, and powerful on turn-in and exit.

Profile

The Contact flat camber delivers the perfect riding characteristics for the freestyle inspired all terrain rider. Pop like you get with positive camber, playfulness like in a rocker. However, thanks to that five-zone sidecut, the flat camber seems a lot more energised than you would expect, giving the Blackjack a surprising amount of pop on edge.

Internals

Heading up the Blackjacks class leading construction is the Pop core. This lightweight combination of poplar and two paulownia stringers delivers the perfect balance of all-terrain versatility and freestyle friendliness underlining the board's playful feel. To this Rome then add bamboo stringers wrapped in carbon fibre which are inserted into milled channels running from under the bindings and out to the tips. This adds pop into both the tip and tail without compromising torsional flex. Now to ensure that the Blackjack delivers the perfect balance of freestyle feel and all-terrain versatility, the structural layers are formed from Rome’s exclusive Straightbiax carbon laminate. This high-performance material replaces the longitudinal glass band with carbon fibre to deliver enhanced pop, again without compromising freestyle flex.

Base

To deliver great performance with minimal maintenance, the Blackjack utilises Rome’s Impact base. This ultra-high molecular extruded base material is the perfect choice for more freestyle focussed boards thanks to its combination of durability and ease of repair.
