GIGI RUF’S GENRE DEFYING ALL TERRAIN FREESTYLE FUN MACHINE

Slash’s Happy-Place has firmly established itself as one of the very best price point all-terrain freestyle boards on the market. The snowboard equivalent of one of those tiny little kids that you see on TV talent shows who go on to deliver a full bore rendition of Sabbath’s Paranoid; it’s price to performance ratio is nothing short of ridiculous. So, no matter if you’re a relative newcomer to the sport or even a seasoned pro looking for a nimble freestyle board; the Happy-Place is going to have you more than covered. Built around a state of the art all terrain twin chassis and utilising an advanced second-generation CamRock profile, this versatile board is happy no matter where or what you ride. Add to this a spec list that reads like some brands top end boards, and it’s not hard to see why the Happy-Place has earned itself multiple awards and that reputation as one of the very best freestyle boards available.

Rider Style

Basic Intermediate through to advanced riders looking for a high performing freestyle board that’s equally at home out and about on the mountain.

Shape Overview

Utilising a unique twin tip platform, the Happy-Place delivers a balanced freestyle friendly ride that ensures no matter what or where you ride, you’ll always feel like you know what’s going on under your feet. However, the Happy-Place is more than just a freestyle board. Thanks to its state of the art nose and tail profile it delivers excellent performance in the pow. But what sets this board apart is how it rides on the piste. Its combination of progressive sidecut and Ultimate Traction edges, deliver a level of performance on groomers that will blow your mind. The progressive sidecut design blends multiple radii and smooth contact points for buttery turn initiation, edge-to-edge transition and edge hold. While the Ultimate Traction edges place a small counter radius (bump) in the middle of the board’s sidecut, improving edge hold without creating drag or unpredictable edge grip.

Profile

One of the key contributors to the Happy-Place’s stunning performance is the innovative 2nd generation Cam Rock profile. This steps up the board's performance and helps deliver that all-terrain versatility that has made it such a success. The floaty, catch-free rocker at both the tip and tail, provides excellent float in the pow with confidence inspiring hook-free feel on rails and boxes. While flat zones just outside the insert packs, create a stable platform to load up for increased ollie power and pop. Finally, the traditional camber between the feet powers up the sidecut and adds response and stability.

Construction

Internally the Happy Place is jam-packed with some of the most advanced manufacturing seen at this price point. Heading this up is the state of the art Pop core, constructed mainly from durable poplar it adds additional woods to deliver a poppy yet predictable feel. Beech strips run from the inserts from tip to tail for power transfer; while the sturdy spruce stringers run from just outside the inserts back out to the tip and tail increasing pop and precision. To this Slash then add structural layers created from a softer flexing Bi-Ax glass. This two-way weave fibreglass with strands running at 0 and 90-degrees is more forgiving, easier to flex and highly versatile for all types of riding. Slash then add their Sweet Spot bracing which features two carbon fibre stringers stretching outward from the inserts to the contact points in both the tip and the tail. These increase pop, generate stronger edge hold and create a more playful ride.

Base

The Happy Place’s sintered base is fast, durable and requires less waxing. This higher spec base is unusual at this price point as most brands use a cheaper, low-density extruded material.
