A VERY SPECIAL SNOWBOARD TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF YES

It’s ten since YES exploded onto the world snowboard market, and in that time, they’ve established themselves as one of the most progressive snowboard brands on the market. Helping to develop that reputation from day one has been the iconic Basic. This unique Transworld Good Wood, Whitelines Editor’sChoice winning snowboard has evolved alongside the YES brand and year on year manages to rewrite the rules on what to expect from a more price conscious board. To celebrate the Basic’s role over the past ten years, YES has released a very special edition for 2019. Named the Decade, this unique board takes the advanced twin tip shape and profile of the current Basic but utilises the very best high-end materials available. As you would expect, this has created a truly outstanding snowboard. Whether hitting the park or cruising the mountain, the Decade delivers the same stunning all terrain versatility as the Basic but up the performance and fun factor to 11.

Rider Style
Strong intermediate to Expert riders who are looking for balanced all-terrain board that delivers stunning performance across any terrain.

Shape Overview
The Decade shares the same true twin shape as the Basic giving it a more balanced freestyle feel, so not only does it ride great on the mountain, it’s entirely at home when you want to hit up the park. As per the Basic, it’s the addition of the unique UnderBite Edge profile which creates the boards unique riding performance. UnderBite edges re-distribute a rider’s weight in such a way that it enhances ease of turning and edge hold. Creating divots inward at the binding area reduces and disrupts the surface area of the edge that has contact with the snow while the board is turning. This increases the edge pressure by distributing your weight/energy into the areas where it’s needed - from the binding outland through the centre of the board where the carving arc is taking place. This segmentation of the sidecut into three key zones focuses your body weight into areas that initiate, hold and release turns.

Profile
The Decades CamRock profile differs slightly from that of the Basic. By reducing the amount of rocker at the tip and tail, the camber is allowed to power up the board a little bit more adding to the overall responsive ride. However, even though those rocker zones are reduced, there’s still enough there to deliver that playful hook free and floaty ride that is the trademark of the Basic’s legendary performance.

Construction
Now, this is where things step up regarding performance. Heading up the Decade's stunning construction is the state of the art Powerdrive 2.0 wood core. Combining durable poplar and snappy bamboo, it gives the board a powerful and responsive flex through the length. This is then powered up even further by the addition of two channels milled into the core 30mm in from the edges running parallel to the sidecut, into which are inserted pre-bent bamboo stringers wrapped in carbon fibre. These rods power up the sidecut to deliver mind-bending levels of edge hold and power. Next up are the Decade’s structural layers. On the Basic, these are formed from forgiving bi-ax glass, on the Decade they are created from powerful carbon reinforced tri-ax glass. This combination ups the boards torsional flex ensuring that no matter how hard you ride or how aggressive you want to get, the Decade can easily take it in its stride.

What type of base does it have?
As you would expect, when it comes to the base material there’s absolutely no holding back. As part of the quest to make the Decade one of the best performing boards on the market, YES utilise a super fast true sintered base. Keep this waxed, and there won’t be many boards out there that will be able to keep up.
