Sharing the same advanced design and construction as the iconic Custom Camber, the Flying V version swaps the Custom Camber's more aggressive and responsive ride for a more relaxed and surfy feel. Now don't think when I say relaxed and surfy ride that the Custom Flying V is a soft board for beginners, it's not. It's just a more relaxed high-performance all-terrain board. So, in real terms, this means that if you're one of those riders that love to charge around but don't enjoy those boards that need to be ridden hard to get the most out of them, then this could be the perfect choice for you. Aimed at more experienced riders looking for an all-terrain board that can take on absolutely everything put in its way, the Custom Flying V feels perfectly at home no matter what or where you ride. Equally at home lapping the park, as it is laying out turns on groomers or even hunting out back-country powder Stashes, the Custom Flying V is that rearrest of snowboards, an absolute master of all trades.
Rider Style: Experienced all-terrain riders
Experienced riders looking for a versatile, high-performance board that can take on every type of terrain.
Shape Overview: Directional
The Custom utilises an advanced all-terrain directional shape to create a genuinely versatile board that is happy in any terrain. However, at heart, the Custom is still a freestyle board. Burton gives it a more playful Twin Flex to help deliver a more balanced freestyle friendly ride. Now to ensure the Custom provides rock-solid edge hold, it features the innovative Frost Bite edges. Frostbite Edges extend out slightly beneath your bindings for tremendous edge-hold on hard, icy conditions and are powerful when you need them and playful when you don't.
Profile: Flying V
Burton utilises their state of the art Flying V profile to help the Custom Flying V deliver its full range of performance. A blend of camber and rocker performance, Flying V™ offers the best of both worlds. Rocker overall, including between and outside your feet, enhances playfulness and float. Subtle camber zones underfoot focus edge-control for crisp snap, added pop, and powerful turns underneath your feet.
Construction
As one of the most responsive all-terrain boards on the market, the Custom utilises some of the most up to date construction available. Heading this up is the advanced Squeezebox FSC Super Fly II™ 700G Core with Dualzone™ EGD™. This state of the art profiled wood core uses stronger and lighter woods targeted to specific areas of the core, providing pop, strength, and reduced weight. To ensure that the rider's energy is transferred directly to the edges, Burton turns the wood grain along the toe and heel edges perpendicular to the rest of the core. When it comes to the board's structural layers, the Custom leads the way—formed from Burton's unique 45° Carbon Highlights glass. Carbon Highlights optimises each layer of the fibreglass matrix and adds a full tip-to-tail carbon layer to reduce weight and fine-tune torsional feel to achieve different ride characteristics.
Base
To deliver a super-fast glide in all conditions, the Custom uses Burtons exclusive WFO Base. This unique base material Infuses a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material, resulting in an ultra-durable base that stays wide open all season in any condition.
