The blunt profile directional twin shape delivers the perfect balance of freestyle control and all-terrain versatility. The low swing weight tips take weight away from the ends giving the board a more neutral feel and giving the rider more control in the air and through the turn. However, that nose profile still features the innovative extended contact points of the standard Mountain Twin, so you don’t lose float in deep snow. In addition, the Ultra Mountain Twin features Jones’s 3D Contour Base 2.0. This innovative 3D profiling of the nose and tail gives the board a smoother edge-to-edge transition and improves lift and float. Now to give the Ultra Mountain Twin extra grip when blasting the piste, it utilises Jones’s Traction Tech 3.0 Sidecut. This innovative technology adds additional traction points into the sidecut allowing the board to rip through even the most bulletproof conditions.

This state-of-the-art base shape features an even balance of a 4mm spoon bevel in the nose and a 4mm spoon bevel in the tail. This profile delivers three distinct benefits to the rider; the first is that it creates a smoother transition from edge to edge, helping give the Ultra Mountain Twin its luxury ride. Secondly, it lifts those contact points clear of the snow, creating a smooth, buttery freestyle feel, and finally, it helps channel snow flow down under the board, creating additional lift in the pow.
Construction
When it comes to construction, you’ll start to see the differences between the Ultra Mountain Twin and the standard Mountain Twin. Heading this up is the responsive Power Core. The stiffest core in the Jones range is formed from a combination of durable poplar, poppy bamboo and lightweight paulownia. This construction gives the board a powerful foundation and is key to the stunning performance of the Ultra Mountain Twin. To this, Jones then adds structural layers formed from responsive tri-ax glass. This torsionally stiff glass fibre gives the board its drive and stability. When matched with the Basalt stringers running through the length, it powers up the flex to deliver the Ultra Mountain Twin’s responsive and powerful ride.
Base
As the Ultra Mountain Twin is about performance, Jones utilises their super high-end sintered 9900 base. This hard and fast base has excellent wax retention properties and delivers one of the fastest glides on the mountain.
