The Stratos split is a new addition to the Jones Splitboard collection for this season and is based on the highly acclaimed all-terrain Stratos. This all-conditions, all-terrain splitboard is built for ripping turns, slashing gullies and boosting airs in the backcountry; in other words, for hitting up everything that the mountain can throw at you. Its directional freeride shape is blended with a slightly softer freestyle inspired tail to give the board the feel of a freestyle stick, creating a unique ride that delivers a more playful feel without compromising out and out performance. The Stratos Split's energetic board feel is thanks to a narrow sidecut, friendly flex and camber heavy directional rocker profile, while 10mm of taper and a 3D Contour Base 3.0 keep the Stratos Split super quick edge-to-edge. The Stratos Split is built with Jones's premium Ultra core, Flax/Basalt Power stringers and an ECO-plastic top sheet for added response. For added edge grip and torsional board lock, the Stratos Split features Inner/Outer Traction Tech 3.0, the Boltless Bridge, and Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0. Nimble and confident in any terrain, the Stratos Split makes you want to slice and dice your way down a run in the most fun way possible.

Rider Style

The Stratos is perfect for Intermediate through to expert riders looking for a versatile board that won't hold them back in any terrain or conditions.

Shape Overview

The unique hybrid shape of the Stratos Split takes a while to get your head around, but once you do, it's obvious how revolutionary it is. It is built around a fully directional shape and utilises Jones 3D Contour Base 3.0 spoon. This 3D profiling of the nose gives powder board levels of float without the need for a long and unwieldy nose and smoothing out edge to edge transitions. This innovative nose shape runs into a 10mm tapered body with a deep sidecut and full-sized tail. The deeper sidecut featuring the Traction Tech 3.0 gives the Stratos lightning fast edge control and response on the piste. When ridden with a more centred stance, the full-sized tail gives the Stratos a freestyle flavour even letting you ride switch with total confidence.

Profile

The freeride inspired Directional Rocker combines an extended rocker zone at the nose with a camber between the feet and a shorter rocker at the tail. This profile allows the board to float effortlessly in deep snow while still delivering a responsive and dynamic ride on hardpack terrain.

That shorter rocker at the tail helps create a more responsive and stable feel at the back of the board while still retaining a more playful catch-free ride.

3D Contour Base 3.0

One of the key features that set the new Stratos Split apart from other split boards is the innovative 3D Contour Base profile. This unique design adds an even balance of a 7mm spoon at the nose and tail running from the start of the boards' rocker zone. Although this bevel doesn't look much to the naked eye, it transforms how the board rides. Turn initiation becomes smoother and more fluid while float at the nose increases, thanks to how the profile funnels the snow down and under the nose.

Construction

When it comes to construction, the Stratos Split is in a league of its own and heading this up is the state of the art Ultra Core. The Ultra Core is the lightest core that Jones has ever made and consists of featherweight paulownia reinforced with poplar stringers. This lightweight combination creates the perfect foundation for the Stratos Split, delivering the ideal balance between weight, durability and performance. Jones then adds structural layers formed from an all-new bi-ax layup. These give the board a slightly more natural flex and work perfectly with the Basalt stringers to provide the ideal balance of class-leading high-end performance and all-terrain versatility.

Base

As the Stratos Split is all about performance, Jones utilises their super high end sintered 9900 base. This hard and fast base has excellent wax retention and delivers one of the fastest glides on the mountain.

Boltless Bridge

Less hardware, more power. The Bolt-Less Bridge eliminates split click hardware from the base of the board and enhances split connection by re-profiling the woodcore under the clips.

Quick Tension Tail Clip

Jones's exclusive climbing skin tension system attaches to pre-cut tail notches, eliminating the need for traditional bulky skin tail clips.

Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 with Tip-Lock

Redesigned Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 are lighter weight, clamp tighter and have a smaller footprint than the original Ultra Clip. They are also adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.
