If you're looking to take that volume-shifted surfy riding experience deep into the heart of the backcountry, then the Splitpig might be your perfect splitboard. Sharing the same short, wide outline as the iconic Warpig, the Splitpig delivers a nimble yet responsive and floaty ride no matter where you take it. Deep powder runs are effortless, whilst the tight radius sidecut quickly dispatches icy terrain. The wide platform also eliminates any toe and heel drag, so you can crank this board through the turn without worrying about digging in. It also means that when in touring mode, you've got a wider ski, so when you're hiking freshies, it's going to be much less effort as you're not going to sink as you step down. Now, although the Splitpig shares much of the standard Warpig's construction, it does have a few special features that are exclusive to the Splitpig. The most obvious of these is the split-specific Channel system. This system allows for more stance options and is much easier to set up than your standard split. Extra Camber through the length improves both carving performance and the efficiency of the ski when in touring mode. The brushed nylon top sheet reduces weight and helps resist snow build-up whilst the high spec carbon race base gives better glide. Shape Overview: Volume Shifted Directional
The Splitpigs advanced tapered volume shifted directional shape is designed to deliver the perfect balance of on-piste control with off-piste lift and float. The most obvious sign of this is the exaggerated blunt nose shape. This innovative nose design provides effortless lift and float without ever feeling overly weighty or unwieldy. Ride then matched this with a wide central platform under the feet. By adding width rather than length, you still get the same surface area, but you get that surface area in a far more manoeuvrable form, creating a floaty yet nimble board. The extra width also works well with Splitpig's aggressive sidecut with a centred stance. This geometry reduces toe and heel drag to an absolute minimum whilst giving the board a more balanced feel underfoot. This innovative shape results in a board that not only works great in the pow but a board you can crank on the piste and play around in the park.
Profile: Directional Extra Camber
The Splitpig's Directional Extra Camber profile combines an extended rocker at the nose with a powerful setback camber under the feet. This responsive combination steps up the performance of the Mtnpig. The Directional Extra Camber's rocker at the nose delivers excellent lift and float at the front of the board, while the powerful camber under the feet creates a solid and stable ride on edge while upping pop and power through the length. Camber underfoot also improves the performance of the ski’s when the board is split.
Construction
Internally the Splitpig utilises Ride's high-end Carbon Array 3 construction. Heading this up is the responsive Performance core. Constructed from high-strength Aspen, poppy Bamboo and lightweight Paulownia, it perfectly balances strength, power and weight. Sitting on top of this are the Double Impact plates, which cushion the bindings from hard landings and add an extra layer of defence against core compression.The Splitpigs structural layers are created from an advanced Hybrid Glassfibre. This combination of tri-ax glass on top and bi-ax on the base delivers the optimum torsional and longitudinal stiffness balance for the ultimate response and control. The structural layers are then further reinforced with the addition of the Carbon Array 3 reinforcing. By placing 3 carbon strips running from the contact points through the binding zones at both the tip and tail, Ride powers up the contact points, creating a faster and more responsive tip and tail engagement without compromising the torsional twist through the centre of the board. The Brushed Topsheet reduces weight compared to the regular board plus resists snow build up.
