The Typo is designed from the ground up for riders of all ability levels looking for a resort busting all-terrain board that combines a relatively easy-going feel with a versatile ride-anything directional twin shape. Equally happy in the park as in the pow and on groomers, this full quiver in one board allows you to ride whatever the mountain puts in your way. With a flex rated at a 6 out of 10, it delivers a smooth and progressive ride, producing a board that takes little effort to ride, but on those days when you want do want to push it a little bit harder, it's not going to fold up and hold you back. The Typo is built around a directional twin chassis with a 1 to 1.5cm set back on the stance; this ensures the board deliver great float in the pow. The innovative Underbite-Bite sidecut improves edge-to-edge response, meaning that the Typo performs equally well on groomers as in the park and pow, underlining its true ride-everything credentials.

Rider Style

The Typo is aimed at intermediate to expert riders looking for a versatile all-terrain board to take on the mountain.

Shape Overview

As the lines between freeride and freestyle continue to erase, Yes had to address the needs of those committed to riding twins but finding themselves in more pow. Nose and tail volume is hard to notice on hardpack unless you're nose/tail pressing, but in pow, it affects floatation, and you can feel it. This conundrum led them to the simple idea of the Directional Volume Twin. This innovative and versatile shape features a Symmetrical flex, centred stance, identical wide points of the board (therefore, NOT tapered), and identical shovel lengths but with a slightly lower volume tail, allowing the board to maximise its performance in all conditions and types of terrain. To take full advantage of this advanced performance shape, Yes utilise its advanced UnderBite edge profile. UnderBite edges re-distribute the rider's weight to enhance ease of turning and edge hold. Creating divots inward at the binding area disrupts the flow of energy along the surface of the edge that's in contact with the snow while the board is turning. This disruption directs your weight/energy into the areas where it's needed most, from the bindings to the contact points and through the centre of the board where the carving arc takes place. This segmenting of the sidecut into three principal zones focuses your body weight into areas that initiate, hold and release turns.

Profile

The Typo utilises Yes's all-terrain focussed 2-4-2 CamRock profile. This versatile camber profile combines low-profile rocker zones at the tip and tail with a more pronounced camber through the middle of the board. This combination creates hook-free zones at the tip and tail while allowing the contact points to engage faster than the freestyle-orientated profiles, giving the board a more dynamic feel and helping the pronounced camber between the feet work harmoniously with the UnderBite edges.

Construction

The Typo is the perfect example of that old saying; sometimes, less is more. Reading through the spec list, you don't get any headline-grabbing pointless techs many brands flag up. But you get a board manufactured using proven traditional snowboard construction. A poplar wood core wrapped with high-quality bi-ax glass fibre delivers the perfect balance of performance, flex and durability, creating the Hello's optimum blend of rider-friendly feel and all-terrain versatility. These two materials are the building blocks for a great snowboard; everything else at this price point is just fluff. So, with the Hello, you get a board that perfectly balances pop, control and playfulness. Everything that you could ever ask for with this kind of snowboard.

Base

The Typo's Sintered Spec is similar in hardness and chemical properties to true sintered bases; its on-snow performance is very close to true sintered. But it is formed using the extrusion process. How? The raw material is pre-consumer recycled (meaning it never left the factory) sintered base material. So while the heating and extrusion process has softened it slightly, it's still much harder than true Extruded.
