There are numerous skateparks dotted throughout the UK, with new ones popping up all the time. If you’re only familiar with your local offering, you might be surprised to learn that some of the world’s most epic skateparks can be found on this island.

So, we decided to put together this post of our top bucket list UK skateparks that we think every skateboarder should visit at least once in their lifetime. Check out our top five of both indoor and outdoor locations, and start ticking them off your list!

Indoor skateparks

Ramp 1

Warrington

Ramp 1 is one of the biggest indoor skateparks in the UK and Europe, covering over 50,000 square feet of space. One of their most distinctive features is the 40ft skateable tunnel that passes through the street plaza. There is also a dedicated beginner’s area, but the park still provides plenty of challenges for skaters who already know every trick in the book.

House of Vans

London

Built in the unused underground tunnels near Waterloo station, House of Vans is one of the most eccentric skateparks in the UK. It consists of five tunnels, two of which form the skatepark and the remaining space contains an art gallery, a cinema, and a music venue. This location should be on every skater's bucket list for sure!

Graystone Action Sports

Manchester

Graystone is a huge modern action sports complex that caters to various activities from trampolining to parkour, but the true heart of the facility is their skatepark. Offering something for everyone from beginner to pro, the skatepark features a street area, bowl, mini ramp, and much more. Graystone even offer private coaching for anyone that wants to start skateboarding or develop their skills further.

Rush Skatepark

Stroud

Another fantastic location known for its enormous size and epic features, Rush is a popular indoor skatepark based in the heart of Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. It utilises around 40,000 square feet of warehouse space consisting of four main sections: park, bowl, street, and a resi and jump track. It's definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the area.

Rampworx

Liverpool

Rampworx was established in 1997 and has since grown from its original modest size of 15,000 square feet to a whopping 70,000 square feet. As the largest indoor skatepark in the UK, they see over 1300 riders per week. There’s nothing else quite like Rampworx in the country, so it’s certainly a must-visit for all UK-based skate enthusiasts.

Outdoor skateparks

Projekts

Manchester

Located under the Mancunian way flyover close to Manchester city centre, this park offers one of the most unique skating experiences you can find in the UK. Although it is outdoors, the flyover acts as a roof that protects the entire skatepark from the elements. You do have to pay a small entry fee for this outdoor venue, but trust us, it’s more than worth it.

The Level

Brighton

A centre of Brighton’s skate scene since its refurbishment in 2013, The Level is a modern polished concrete skatepark consisting of two main parts: a large transition area and a surrounding street plaza. The nearby popular Brighton greenspace and leafy trees create a serene atmosphere you probably wouldn’t expect to experience at a skatepark.

Livingston Skatepark

Livingston

Livingston Skatepark, or “Livi”, is a legend in the world of British skateboarding. Opened back in 1981, the park is now starting to show its age, but it's still just as much fun as it was back in the ’80s and ’90s. Complete beginners might not find much to ride at Livi as it poses a challenge even for the more experienced riders. Still, every UK-based skater should definitely experience this iconic park at least once in their lifetime.

Hereford Skatepark

Hereford

Hereford Skatepark is a little different to most outdoor skateparks in the UK as it’s not run by a business or owned by the local council. It’s a community project owned and operated by a charitable company, who pride themselves on listening to the end-users and making the park better for everyone. It's often really busy, but skaters will find that the best time to visit is on a Sunday afternoon between 1 pm and 6 pm because that's when the skatepark has a No Scooter policy in place.

Stoke Plaza

Stoke-on-Trent

Designed to replicate a real street environment, Stoke Plaza skatepark is the go-to place for British street skaters. There is a small bowl section to the side, but the authentic street plaza makes this park stand out from the crowd. Even if you have to travel across the country to visit Stoke, it’s well worth the trip for the unique experience.
