Sharing the same short and wide concept as the award-winning Warpig but this time integrating it into a true-twin shape, the TwinPig is the freestyle model in Ride's volume-shifted Pig family. Swapping length for width, the Twin Pig is designed to be ridden 3-6cm shorter than your regular board. This downsizing allows you to take full advantage of the Twin Pigs' advanced design, creating a board that is super stable in the park, predictable on landings and feels fully balanced under the feet; in fact, all the criteria you need for great freestyle performance. However, the Twin Pig is more than just a freestyle board; the increased width gives outstanding float in fresh snow, whilst the advanced sidecut geometry delivers a level of response and control on par with most regular all-terrain boards. In short, the Twin Pig transcends freestyle board norms and is probably best described as a freestyle board that sacrifices nothing around the rest of the mountain.
Rider Style: All-Terrain Freestyle riders
The Twin Pig is aimed at intermediate to advanced freestyle riders looking for a versatile board that can deliver, no matter the conditions or terrain.
Shape Overview: Asymmetric Twin Tip
The TwinPig takes the Pig Series's short and wide shape concept and applies it to a state-of-the-art asymmetrical twin-tip shape. This innovative design creates a wider platform between the feet with an extended blunt profile nose and tail kick. This advanced shape delivers a balanced overall shape with a low swing weight that doesn't compromise lift and float away from the park. To ensure that the TwinPig doesn't feel sluggish with its extra width, Ride utilises a tight radius quadratic sidecut on both the toeside and heelside. This advanced geometry gives the board a lively feel underfoot and offsets the slower edge-to-edge speed of the extra width. Ensuring the TwinPig can take maximum advantage of its advanced design, it also features a deeper heelside sidecut. This innovative design offsets the body's bio-mechanical inability to drive equal power to both heel and toe edges, creating a dynamic and lively ride underfoot.
Profile: Twin Standard Camber
The TwinPig's Asymmetrical Twin, Standard Camber profile combines rocker in the nose and tail with camber under the feet. The rocker at the contact points delivers a more reassuring hook-free feel when playing in the park and creates lift and float in deeper snow. To give the board a more dynamic and responsive ride, the TwinPig adds a camber under the feet to power up the sidecut. This camber ensures that when you need edge hold and stability, the TwinPig won't let you down.
Construction
Internally the TwinPig has been optimised to deliver the perfect balance of all-terrain performance with freestyle friendly feel. Heading this up is the responsive Performance core. Constructed from high-strength Aspen, poppy Bamboo and lightweight Paulownia, it perfectly balances strength, power and weight. To this, Ride then add underfoot dampening pads in the binding zones. These help cushion landings and add resistance to core compression under excess load. To give the TwinPig optimum all-terrain/freestyle flex, the structural layers are formed from tri-ax glass on the upper band and bi-ax glass on the lower band. At heart, the TwinPig is a freestyle board, and that's nowhere more obvious than the addition of the Slim-Wall Slimewall® sidewall tech. Slimewalls® place a thin layer of shock-absorbing Urethane between the edges and the roll-over top sheet. This innovative construction absorbs impacts rather than defending against them. The Urethane in Slimewalls® smoothes the interaction with the snow, wood or metal surfaces you may ride on. The Slim-wall tech gives a more direct power transfer over a regular board. Finally, the Cleave steel edges have nearly 50% more steel; this delivers unmatched resistance to edge cracking while allowing the rider to blunt off the edge far more than with a traditional edge.
