A new addition to the Salomon collection last season, the Abstract quickly became a firm favourite of anyone that rode it. Designed and driven by the Salomon team and utilising some of the most up-to-date design and thinking in freestyle boards, this stunning board has been designed to redefine freestyle performance. Built around a state-of-the-art, true-twin shape with blunt tips, the Abstract delivers a level of control that can blow the mind of even the most demanding park ride. The low swing weight tips reduce inertia to a minimum, ensuring that you'll always be in control of even the most technical spins. The narrow waist width enhances control even further, which, when combined with the mid-sized sidecut, enhances stability and response. So basically, it's a board that gives unrivalled performance in the park.
Rider Style: Freestyle/All Terrain
Freestyle riders looking for a high-performing board that delivers outstanding performance in the park with a fantastic ride out on the mountain.
Shape Overview: Twin
The Abstract is built around a blunt-tipped twin shape. The blunt tips cut swing weight to an absolute minimum, ensuring you have all the control you could ever need. The regular-width riding platform perfectly harmonises with the advanced Quadralizer sidecut to give the ideal combination of response with a predictable, stable feel. Quadralizer is an explosive combination of Equalizer and Quadratic sidecuts and allows high-speed carving and superior edge control in tight spots.
Profile: Rock Out Camber
It utilises Salomon's state-of-the-art Rock Out Camber to ensure that the Abstract can take full advantage of its advanced shape and construction. This complex profile combines rocker zones at the contact points with a camber under the feet and a flat section between the bindings. This unique profile delivers a versatile ride, ensuring that no matter what or where you ride, you know that this board never feels wanting.
Construction
Internally the Abstract is a tour-de-force of Salomon's high-end construction. Heading this up is the responsive Aspen Popster SLCT Core. This hand-selected wood core is specially profiled to give the perfect freestyle skate-inspired feel, ensuring you get that buttery playful flex through the length. To complete the Abstract's balanced and predictable feel, Salomon then matches this to a more forgiving mid-density bi-ax weave glass. However, to ensure that the Abstract can still deliver that great ride outside the park, Salomon adds tri-ax glass laminates to strategic areas of the board to step up torsional response. Additional pop is added via the Ghost Carbon Beams; this technology places two carbon beam inserts at the tip and tail for maximum pop and increased stability during high-speed charging. To help dampen the ride and add additional protection to the edges, the Abstract utilises 2mm Rubber blocks inserted into the high-pressure zones of our ABS Sidewalls to dampen vibrations and reduce fatigue in snow conditions.
Base: Sintered
To finish the Abstract's high spec, Salomon uses their tough and fast sintered base.
