A new addition to the Yes collection this season, the Pyzel is a collaboration between Yes snowboards and renowned surfboard manufacturer Pyzel. Designed to combine the very best all-mountain performance with a more surf-inspired ride, the Pyzel is the perfect choice for experienced riders who want a board that can handle every type of terrain and snow conditions but also a board that's going to come alive when you're laying out turns and hunting out powder stashes. Shaped with the assistance of Jon Pyzel himself, this innovative directional twin takes advantage of Yes's state-of-the-art tapered mid-bite edge profile pioneered on last year's Warca. By utilising a more twin focussed shape, the Pyzel delivers a balanced overall ride, giving you the confidence to play around in the park alongside all the control you'll ever need for cruising around the resort.
Rider Style
The Pyzel is aimed at intermediate to expert riders looking for a versatile all-terrain board to take on the whole mountain.
Shape Overview
The Pyzel's advanced directional twin shape has been specially engineered to give outstanding performance in every type of terrain. The longer nose and tail profile inspired by Yes's state-of-the-art powder collection gives the board class-leading levels of lift and float. However, thanks to clever engineering, Yes has achieved this float without compromising the board's overall balance, meaning you get that freeride performance while delivering an overall freestyle feel. One of the key elements to the Pyzel's unique ability to handle every terrain type is how Yes has engineered the 6mm Taper with their advanced Tapered Mid-Bite sidecut. This innovative design steps a single section of each sidecut inwards between the insert packs. This single, long disruption of the sidecut between the bindings cheats the waist width into reacting like a narrow board, providing a quick edge-to-edge response. Meanwhile, from your bindings out to the end of the sidecut, it maintains a wider board width that improves float in pow and creates a stable platform. The Step inwards on the front is deeper than the Step outwards on the back, creating a slight taper in the tail, allowing the tail to be just a little narrower than the nose but without losing the twin feel.
Profile: Camber
The Pyzel's Camber is an update of what we would call a traditional camber. By starting the full-length camber profile just after the contact points, you get all the benefits of a traditional camber while delivering a smoother, hook-free ride. The Camber profile dissipates the rider's energy more evenly along the board's edge, giving a more stable and responsive ride as the edge is engaged along its entire length.
Construction
Sharing the same acclaimed construction as Yes's high-end boards, the Pyzell delivers a level of performance that can satisfy even the most discerning rider. Heading this up is the lightweight poplar and Paulownia core. Combining superlight paulownia with durable poplar gives you the perfect balance of weight and performance while retaining a more progressive flex. To this, Yes then create the structural layers from responsive tri-ax glass. Using a torsionally stiffer glass retains the board's surfier feel without compromising its ability to respond and react at high speeds, delivering that perfect balance between surf-style board and performance charger.
Base
As the Pyzel is all about performance, Yes step up the base to a True Sintered material. True Sintered is harder and more expensive than extruded, and it can be faster for those that ride aggressively fast.
