Hailing out of Hokkaido, Island Snowboards is an artisan snowboard brand committed to producing the finest hand-built freeride snowboards. Manufactured in a small bespoke facility deep in the mountains of Hokkaido, the Supernaut combines high-end construction with a versatile freestyle-inspired freeride shape to deliver a versatile board that’s at home over the whole mountain. Sharing much of its DNA with the iconic Volume One but integrating it into an advanced tapered multi-directional shape, the Supernaut delivers all the response and control of its sister board but in a more playful and versatile shape. Shape Overview: Tapered Dual Directional

The Supernaut’s advanced dual-directional shape is designed to ride both forwards and switch; however, it’s not your classic twin-tip shape. Keeping its feet anchored in the freeride camp, it utilises a slight taper, making this, unusually, a tapered twin. This taper gives the board its unique ability to handle deep snow while feeling balanced for park laps and spinning off hits in the backcountry. The wider overall width of the board provides additional stability and float. This additional width also allows you to take full advantage of the relatively tight sidecut, so you can really lay this board out on groomers without worrying about toe or heel drag.

Profile: Layback Camber

The Supernaut’s Layback Camber is setback a little bit less than on other Island boards. This set-back lets the board power through the turn, but still gives it a bit more of a neutral ride. Early rise tips allow snow to flow under the nose, reduce drag, and ensure the board comes onto the plane quickly and easily. The regular camber allows the rider to power up the sidecut across its entire length, creating a stable and reassuring ride on edge.

Progressive Sidecut

A larger radius in the front blended into a tighter one towards the tail: The progressive sidecut makes accelerating out of turns a breeze while maintaining a catch-free nose area.

Construction

Heading up the Supernaut’s high-quality construction is the Hokkaido wood core. This locally sourced tip-to-tail wood core is formed from Honoki with Tamo stringers for increased pop. This combination of Hokkaido-sourced woods gives the perfect balance of strength, smooth response, and insane snap. The Supernaut utilises tri-ax glass to ensure that the structural layers can take full advantage of that advanced core. With fibres running at 45° and 0°, the board delivers a torsionally responsive ride, ensuring that no matter how hard you push, it never feels compromised. To add extra pop to the board, Island add Carbon V stringers running out from the inserts to the contact points; these stringers power up the contacts, giving the board its lightning-fast response and control.

Base

The Isosport 7000 Sintered base is both super fast and super tough. With excellent wax-holding properties, this base is one of the fastest and most durable snowboard bases available.
