Hand built artisan board for the ultimate freeride experience.

Hailing out of Hokkaido via Tignes, Island snowboards is an artisan snowboard brand committed to producing the finest hand built freeride snowboards available. The brainchild of freerider Owen Bassett, Island snowboards produce their stunning Volume One in a small bespoke facility deep in the mountains of Hokkaido. Designed from years of experience riding the mountains of their former home Tignes and the mythical powder of Hokkaido, Island Snowboards Volume One is a stunning board built for riders looking for the ultimate freeride experience. Built around a tapered directional shape featuring early rise in both the nose and tail, the Volume One delivers effortless float in the pow, rock solid turns on piste and lightning-fast response through the trees. The progressive sidecut, hand selected Japanese wood core & carbon stringers give the Volume One a perfectly balanced flex which is powerful enough to hold the fastest, steepest line but not too stiff to feel & flow through low down carves on a perfect groomer. So, if you are after an incredibly special board that is going to deliver outstanding performance every time you strap in, then the very limited Volume One might just be the perfect snowboard for you.

Rider Profile: All-Terrain freeriders

Riders looking for a performance freeride board that delivers stunning performance over the whole mountain that is still friendly enough to use as your everyday board.

Shape Overview: Tapered Directional

The Volume One utilises a fully directional tapered freeride shape. This innovative snowboard profile is designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail. This shape gives you plenty of float whilst powering up the back of the board, giving you a more dynamic feel on edge. The 15mm tapered shape means that the nose is wider than the tail, promoting smooth turn entry and exit, stability at speed, and enhanced deep snow flotation. However, the blunt-tipped early rise nose design also lowers the swing weight at the extremities of the board without compromising float, giving the Volume One a more balanced feel for a more predictable and stable carve. The slight cutback in the tail allows the back of the board to sink a bit more easily, making for effortless powder performance.

Profile: Layback Camber

Layback Camber is a traditional setback camber with early and smooth transitions into the tip and

tail. Those early rise tips allow snow to flow under the nose, reduce drag, and ensure the board comes onto the plane quickly and easily. The regular camber allows the rider to power up the sidecut across its entire length, creating a stable and reassuring ride on edge.

Progressive Sidecut

A larger radius in the front blended into a tighter one towards the tail: The progressive sidecut makes accelerating out of turns a breeze while maintaining a catch-free nose area.

Construction

Heading up the Volume One’s high-quality construction is the Hokkaido wood core. This locally sourced tip-to-tail wood core is formed from Honoki with Tamo stringers for increased pop. This combination of Hokkaido sourced woods gives the perfect balance of strength, smooth response, and insane snap. Now to ensure that the structural layers can take full advantage of that advanced core the Volume One utilises tri-ax glass. With fibres running at 45° and 0° the board delivers a torsionally responsive ride ensuring that no matter how hard you push it, it’s never going to feel compromised. Now to add extra pop to the board, Carbon V stringers run out from the inserts to the contact points; these power up the contacts giving the board its lightning fast response and control.

Base

The Isosport 7000 Sintered base is both super fast and super tough. With excellent wax holding properties, this base is one of the fastest and most durable snowboard bases available.
