Jones Frontier Splitboard 2023

The Frontier Split has been designed from the ground up to deliver the perfect performance for riders looking for a more playful and freestyle-focused ride without compromising the big-mountain characteristics of a traditional freeride board. Built around a fully directional shape, the Frontier Split features a floaty, freeride focussed nose for pow crushing and crud busting. This traditional freeride shape is then matched with a more compliant freestyle tail perfect for popping pillows and stomping cliff drops. The Frontier Split’s Directional Rocker profile and Inner/Outer Traction Tech 2.0 edges provide confident stability and edge grip on icy skin tracks or firm descents. The Frontier Split offers high performance without skimping on materials as it’s built with a Sintered 8000 base, an Eco-plastic topsheet and a Classic V-Core that is specially profiled for added pop between the feet. The Frontier Split is also equipped with Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0, and new for 22/23, the Boltless Bridge that eliminates hardware in the base.

Shape Overview

The Frontiers Splits directional shape has been specially engineered to create a versatile ride across the whole mountain. The innovative Blunt Nose Profile allows the nose to rise quickly in deep snow, while the Traction Tech 2.0 on both the outer and inner edges adds multiple contact points to the sidecut. These ensure that the Frontier feels locked in on even the iciest descents whilst still giving a reassuring and safe feel on even the trickiest of skin tracks.

Profile

The freeride inspired Directional Rocker combines an extended rocker zone at the nose with camber between the feet and a shorter rocker at the tail. This profile allows the board to float effortlessly in deep snow while still delivering a responsive and dynamic ride on hardpack terrain.

That shorter rocker at the tail helps create a more responsive and stable feel at the back of the board while still retaining a more playful catch-free ride.

Construction

Heading up the Frontier Split’s high-quality construction is the durable yet lightweight Classic Core. This premium poplar wood core delivers the perfect balance of performance, pop, flex and strength and is the ideal foundation for the Frontiers versatile ride. Now as Jones wanted to keep this board a little bit more playful, it utilises softer flexing Bi-Ax glass structural layers. These allow the board to flex both lengthwise and torsionally a little easier and are crucial to delivering that unique, playful freeride feel.

Boltless Bridge

Less hardware, more power. The Bolt-Less Bridge eliminates split click hardware from the base of the board and enhances split connection by re-profiling the woodcore under the clips.

Quick Tension Tail Clip

Jones's exclusive climbing skin tension system attaches to pre-cut tail notches, eliminating the need for traditional bulky skin tail clips.

Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 with Tip-Lock

Redesigned Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 are lighter weight, clamp tighter and have a smaller footprint than the original Ultra Clip. They are also adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.

Base

To ensure the Frontier delivers the optimum performance, it utilises a super-fast 8000 Sintered base. Factory waxed with Wend Natural wax it provides excellent glide in all conditions.
