Ride Men's Shadowban Snowboard

The Shadowban was a new addition to the Ride collection last winter, and it very quickly established itself as a firm favourite amongst all-terrain riders. Aimed at intermediate to advanced riders looking for a board that can take on the whole mountain, the Shadowban combines all-terrain versatility with a more relaxed feel. Now don't think that because it's smooth and relaxing, it's not got any performance, because the opposite is true. The Shadowban still delivers outstanding performance; you just don't have to work hard to extract that performance, which is one of the main reasons so many people like it. Built around a ride-anything directional twin shape with a slightly longer nose profile and an advanced Quadratic sidecut, the Shadowban perfectly combines all the characteristics of a freeride board with the feel, balance, and control you need for playing around on the mountain. So, on those days when it's dumped, you're going to get effortless float; on those days when you want to charge on-piste, you're going to get a satisfying and responsive carve, yet on those days when you want to hit up the park, you're going to get a playful freestyle focussed ride.

Shape Overview: Twin Tip

The Shadowban's directional twin shape features a slightly longer nose length that's been designed to give an increased lift in the pow whilst retaining a relatively low swing weight for when you want a more playful ride. The regular waist width works harmoniously with the quadratic sidecut to give a responsive performance on the piste. Blending longer radii at the tip and tail with a deeper radius through the middle, the Shadowban has an easy and mellow turn entry and exit but still feels locked in and solid through the middle of the turning arc.

Profile: Directional Twin Standard Camber

The Shadowban's Directional Twin, Standard Camber profile, combines rocker in the nose and tail with camber under the feet. The rocker at the contact points delivers a more reassuring hook-free feel when playing in the park whilst creating lift and float in deeper snow. To give the board a more dynamic and responsive ride, the camber under the feet powers up the sidecut, ensuring that the Shadowban won't let you down when you need edge hold and stability.

Construction

Internally the Shadowban has been optimised to deliver the perfect balance of all-terrain performance with freestyle friendly feel. Heading this up is the Performance Core. Constructed from a combination of high-strength Aspen, poppy Bamboo and lightweight Paulownia, it provides the perfect balance of strength, power and weight. Sitting on top of this are the Double Impact plates, which cushion the bindings from hard landings and add an extra layer of defence against core compression. The structural layers are formed from pre-cured glass to give the Shadowban its more compliant ride. This high-quality glass fibre is pre-cured in controlled conditions for optimum flex and control. To add an extra layer of performance to the structural layers, Ride utilises their Carbon Array 3 reinforcing. Carbon Array 3 places 3 carbon strips running from the contact points at the toe and heel edges through the binding zones at both the tip and tail. These carbon beams power up the contact points, creating a faster and more responsive tip and tail engagement without compromising the Shadowban's more rider-friendly torsional flex. Finally, the Urethane Slimewalls help to absorb edge impacts and also help to dampen out unwanted vibrations.

Base: Sintered

The Shadowban's high-performance Stone-Ground 4000 sintered base gives a faster glide across a wide range of snow temperatures and conditions.
