Globe: Living Low Velocity - Sustainable Clothing

We take sustainability seriously here at TSA, and fortunately, so do our friends at Globe. Protecting our planet and climate is crucial to ensuring we can continue to snowboard, paddle and skate in the outdoor environments we thrive in.

Research from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has shown that the fashion industry produces 10% of global carbon dioxide emissions every year, and an estimated 1.5 trillion litres of water is used during clothing production. In an effort to help limit their impact on the planet, Globe are shifting their purpose, method and ethos to ensure that sustainability is at the forefront of what they do.

Living Low Velocity

Globe's clothing range is all about living low velocity - making high-quality clothing with minimal impact on the planet.

Stepping away from chasing fashion giants churning out fast fashion, Globe are now focussing on making premium evergreen clothing, designed for the modern explorer. The range is based around a number of staple styles that will stay the same each season. They are high-quality pieces that are built to stay in style, be practical, and last for years.

There are a number of ways that the brand are achieving their sustainability aims. Here are some of the key points:

Each piece is rigorously tested for fit, function and durability. They are built to last.
The range uses sustainable fibres including organic cotton, recycled polyester and COCOTEX® Coconut Polyester.
The clothing uses sustainable finishes such as PFOA-free Durable Water Repellent (avoids the potentially toxic Perflourooctanic acid traditionally used), PVC and Phthalate Free Inks (avoids PolyVinyl Chloride based inks often used for screen printing) and YKK Natulon® recycled tapings.
